MINI & JUNIOR RUGB Mini Rugby A fantastic day was
held on October 14th. A big thank you to all the players, coaches new
& old, senior players, relatives and members of the Club &
committee for contributing to a very special day & creating a
memorable atmosphere. A special mention for our match referee Dan Crouch
who did a fantastic job & has agreed to carry on, so I’m told, for
our remaining home fixtures. Thanks Dan. Another special thank you to
Nicola Pomery for sweating over the BBQ until the bitter end and all who
helped in any way shape or form. Yesterday was the result of a lot of
effort by a handful of people and around 200 committee meetings. For the
first time in years, it was great to see rugby dominating the pitches on
a Sunday morning. We now need to maintain this momentum for the rest of
the season and many years to come. We ran the Cats very
close, and at one point at 21-22 we looked odds on to sneak as we seemed
to have built the momentum to win, but Cats were strong and their late
replacement held the key to their eventual victory running in two tries
late on to put the result beyond doubt. What we lacked in physical
dimension, tactical awareness and experience we certainly made up for in
our will, determination, courage and application and every player should
be proud, as to a man we were absolutely superb. Congratulations to
the U15 7’s for two inspirational performances in their first ever two
games together. Just getting a side out at this level was an
achievement, but to run in a couple of tries in the process was very
gratifying indeed. Again the lads should feel extremely proud. We are always looking
to recruit at all ages from 7 – 17 to fill places at mini, youth &
