Mids A Players

Aaron Pennington

Position: Flanker or Hooker
Description: Aaron is one of the longest serving players at the club joining back in 1996 having previously played for both John Fisher and Warlingham. He is an ex pupil of Warlingham school where he was taught by former player Graham Crouch. Aaron is the current AXV captain, a position he has previously held on two separate occasions. Aaron's highlight of the season was the fact that it was his first season without being knock unconscious during a game, although this was probably due to the fact he was injured for half of the season! Despite having an injury hit season he still managed to play a couple of games for the 1st team. Aaron is operations director for Newton Honda.

Alex Humm

Position: 2nd Row or Back Row
Description: Alex Humm is another player who joined the club after leaving Trinity School. He is a qualified rugby coach and runs the rugby club at Kingston College. As well as playing rugby for the club he is also a member of the Old Mids cricket club.

Andy Edwards

Position: Centre or Fullback
Description: Andy is a school teacher at Riddlesdown who has joined us this season from Harlequin Amateurs as a result of the Young Mids link with the school.

Arjun Seth

Position: Outside Centre or Wing
Description: Arjun is another player who came through Trinity School to play for his old boys club. His other past times include utilmate fighting and sunning himself on the beach in Barbados.

Charles "Chis" Cliff

Position: Scrum Half
Description: Chis is an Old Boy of Trinity School who has been a regular member of The Old Mids for a number of seasons. He likes to tell people about his man of the match award over at Camberley 4 years ago. Hopefully he will have another decent game soon as everyone is getting bored of his same old story.

Chris Davis

Position: Scrum Half
Description: Chris joined the club from Cambridge Rugby Club in 2009 after graduating from Southampton University where he befriended a number of ex Trinity pupils such as Matt Hoyles and Nathan Bacon. Chris himself went to Bassingbourn Village College and has also represented Cambridgeshire County. He is a versatile player who has played every position in the backs for the AXV but his preference is scrum half which is the position he has played when selected for the 1st team. His highlight of last season was one of Nathan Bacons incredibly graceful runs with his many pirouettes which are simply astonishing for someone who he reckon weighs around 28 stone. Outside of rugby Chris is a keen rock climber and by day he is a banker.

Chris Parrott

Position: Centre
Description: Chris is a new player to the club this season who has joined us as a result of our links with Royal Holloway University.

Chris Willson

Position: Wing, Fullback or Flanker
Description: Chris joined the club back in 1995 whilst still at Trinity School and then went on to study at Roehampton University. Chris was a member of the 1996/97 Surrey County Colts Cup winning squad. Chris returned to playing on a more regular basis in the 2009/10 after not being able to play on a regular basis due to previously having to work on Saturdays. He started out the season playing for the Mitres but soon became a regular in the AXV and also played once for the first team. Chris is a sales manager for Honda Gatwick.

Dave Pether

Position: Utility Forward
Description: Dave is a new member of the club this season who was introduced to us by fellow new mwmber John Bocking.

David "Dingo" Wojciechowicz

Position: Outside Centre or Wing
Description: Dingo joined the club in 2008 from Rosslyn Park as a result of our link with St. Joseph's College. Dingo is half Polish but was actually born in Australia where he stated his education at Prairiewood High School. He started out playing for The Mitres but soon pushed himself into the AXV and in the 2009/10 season made his debut for the 1st team. His highlight from the season was not actually in a game but was seeing Mike Keehan throw up during pre-season fitness training! Dingo also plays rugby league for South London Storm and has played for under 18s South England Lionhearts. He lists his profession as an apprentice stripper.

Edward "Woody" Case

Position: Hooker or Flanker
Description: Woody is another new recruit to the club this season. He is an ex university team mate of Jon Duncan and Richard Westerman at Royal Holloway.

Gary Howorth

Position: Flanker
Description: Gary is one of a number of Jon Duncan's work colleagues from Foxtons who have joined the club this season.

Henry Proctor

Position: Centre
Description: Henry is an ex pupil of Trinity School who after years of playing for Beckenham has finally seen the light and joined his old school mates such as Steve Berry and Charles Cliff in playing for his school old boys club.

James Stritch

Position: Wing or Fullback
Description: James is a former pupil of Trinity School and a graduate from Exeter University. James had drifted away from the club over the past few seasons but he was tempted back last season and is very happy that he made the decision to resume playing back up at his old boys team.

John Bocking

Position: Flanker
Description: John is another teacher from Riddlesdown School who has joined our ranks this season as a result of the junior clubs links with the school.

Jon Duncan

Position: Wing
Description: Jon is another player who went to Trinity school. He is a graduate from Royal Holloway University and is keen to build a link between the club and his old university. Jon also made his CLOB debut last season and hope to represent them again this coming season. He is also a member of the boy band, Foxtons.

Jon Hall

Position: Wing
Description: Jon joined his old boys club after leaving Trinity School. He has only managed to play a handful of games for the club due to other commitments but he is hoping to get back on the playing field in the new year

Jonathan Howard

Position: Wing or Outside Centre
Description: Jonathan was another new addition to the club last season. Originally from Ipswich he is a recent graduate from Sheffield Hallam where he learnt a thing or two playing rugby with David Strettle. He is also a keen ice skater and a fan of Kojak.

Koorosh Ashrafi

Position: Front Row
Description: Koorosh joined the club on a full time basis at the start of last season after coming to a couple of training sessions during the previous season. Like half of the squad he is a former pupil of Trinity School.

Laurence Oliver

Position: 2nd Row
Description: Laurence followed in his father's footsteps when he joined from Edenbridge back in 1998 having also played for Hereford rugby club. Laurence is a former pupil of Oxted County School and a Laurence is an area manager for Parkwood Leisure, looking after some the Leisure Centres in Lewisham. He is also a sailing and power boat instructor.

Matt Farlow

Position: Flanker or Hooker
Description: Matt actually joined the club as an old boy of Trinity School back in 2005 although rumour would have you believe that John Wrightson picked him out of a catalogue and had him shipped over from the Philippians which is actually Matt's place of birth. When Matt initially joined the club it was as a winger/full back but he now decided that being a fire fighter for The London Fire Brigade he is far to macho to be a back and prefers to play either hooker or flanker. Matt is an ex winner of the young player of the year award and he has previously been the AXV Vice Captain. Matt also enjoys playing hockey, cricket and golf. Matt's favourite item of clothing is the mankini.

Matt Pike

Position: Flanker or Centre
Description: Matt put in a couple of appearances last season but is hoping to become more involved this coming year. He came to the club as a result of his ex team mates at Southampton University but he has also been working at Langley Park Boys School alongside a number of our other players.

Matt Snudden

Position: Centre
Description: Matt is a new player to the club this season who has joined us as a result of our links with Royal Holloway University.

Mike Orchard

Position: Back
Description: Mike has finally agreed to play rugby this season after being a regular member of the social network up at the club for a number of years. He is the brother of 1st team member, James Orchard. Mike is a fireman by profession.

Nathan Bacon

Position: Prop, Flanker or Centre
Description: Nathan joined the club in 2004 having previously played his junior rugby for Bromley Rugby Club. He is a former pupil of Trinity School and a graduate of Southampton University where he studied English and History. Whilst at university he was also a member of the OTC. Unfortunately, Nathan got stabbed whilst out in Southampton half way through last season. This meant he was unable to play in the second half of the season but Nathan was determined to stay involved and took over the role of AXV manager. Nathan has also represented CLOB. Nathan can often be mistaken for a local farmer, propping up the bar in his wellington boots and red granddad jumper, necking pints of cider. Shame he is not as good as propping up the scrum! His other interests include sailing.

Nigel Peart

Position: Prop
Description: Nigel is a 2009 Trinity School leaver. Unfortunately he did not get a chance to play last season as a result of injury and work commitments but he is looking forward to making an impact during his gap year this season. Nigel is another player who also plays american football.

Peter "Cookie" Cook

Position: Hooker or Fullback
Description: After growing up in New Zealand and playing rugby for the likes of Tauranga Boys' College OBs, Rimutaka, Massey University, Upper Hutt College and Tauhara College Cookie came to England in 2000. He initially had a job working door to door selling calendars but soon obtained a teaching position at St Joseph's College alongside Mids legend Jim Hammond and current press secretary Gerry Murphy. No sooner had he sat down at his desk he was introduced to the club by Hammo. Aaron O'Gorman talked Cookie into becoming a regular in the A team as he assumed all Kiwis were good rugby players. During this time Cookie played 6, 7, 12, 13, and eventually 15. He was promoted to the 1st team one Saturday not on ability but because he was in the club house when a few others had dropped out at the last minute. However he went on to have some great if not tough times playing 15 at the ripe age of 37 and 38. After serving his apprenticeship to Aaron Pennington as vice Captain he took over the captaincy of the AXV last season. Not only did he lead the AXV to a great season but he also recruited a large number of staff and pupils from St Joseph’s College without whom we would not have managed to get to the point of fielding 4 teams! And he even managed to convert himself into a hooker in the process. Cookie is not going to be captain this season as he intends to dedicate more time to his young family but he will continue to play and hopes to grab some headlines throughout the season!

Rowan Clapp

Position: Winger
Description: Rowan is a 2009 Trinity School leaver who has started to play for the club this season during his gap year before heading off to university.

Simon Jupp

Position: Fullback, Centre or Fly Half
Description: Simon follows a long line of Jupp's who have attended Trinity School and gone on to play for the old boys. Like a number of the current squad Simon has also played rugby for Southampton University and also junior rugby for Warlingham. Simon is the current AXV vice captain and is also an able referee having refereed at senior and junior level for the club last season. He also played twice for the 1st team during 2009/10. Simon's highlight of the 2009/10 season was against Streatham, when after making a run a beating a couple of players he looked for support and found Nathan, then hearing the shout from everyone else of, "Oh no, not Bacon!". Simon works as an electronic engineer.

Stephen Morrin

Position: Scrum Hlaf
Description: Stephen is a 2009 Trinity School leaver who joined the club in the 2nd half of last season.

Tim Foister

Position: No 8
Description: Tim is one of a number of Jon Duncan's work colleagues from Foxtons who have joined the club this season.

Tim Vreysen

Position: Back Row
Description: Tim has recently joined the club after playing sevens in the summer. Tim is a current Austrian International and has recently returned from pre-season training with the Austrian national squad.

Tom Gingell

Position: Back Row
Description: Tom is another academy graduate and former Trinity School player. Tom seems to have been a student forever. His initial degree was at Southampton University where he graduated with a first in Clowns & Jesters. He then took a law conversion course in his quest to become a barrister before spending his student loan trekking across the globe. Now he has finished we are looking forward to him playing on a more regular basis.
